The Australian Pilates Acadamy
The Australian Pilates Academy method is a conditioning program that improves muscle control, flexibility, coordination, and strength. The basic concept of Pilates conditioning is to increase awareness of the body as a single integrated unit, to improve alignment and breathing, and to increase efficiency of movement. The exercises are based on the principle that by developing a strong and flexible torso with a stabilized core (abdominal, back and pelvic muscles), the whole body can be balanced, aligned and conditioned for optimal performance.

Some of the many benefits of Pilates include:

  • Improved Muscular flexibility strength and range of movement. Particularly of the abdominal muscles, lower back, hips and buttocks (the 'core muscles' of the body).
  • Will assist in balancing muscular strength on both sides of the body and enhanced muscular control of the back and limbs.
  • A greater awareness of your posture and improved stabilisation of the spine.
  • Aids in prevention of musculoskeletal injuries and safe rehabilitation of joint and spinal injuries.
  • Helps to relieve low back pain and other joint and muscular related stresses.
  • Helps relaxation of the shoulders, neck and upper back.
