Pilates is a skill learned, The Australian Pilates Academy understands that it takes time and quality instruction to properly train in Joseph Pilates original teaching. Our courses are conducted over a 5 month period and not just 4 days. We feel it is important that your Pilates education is the most effective, up to date and informative training available. The course is conducted in two phases, you will be qualified to instruct individuals and groups after the first phase, however, there is further intensive training to improve instructor skills and your knowledge in the application of Pilates to group and individual clients.
We work toward excellence in training and providing each instructor with quality support and continued education. Once you have qualified as an instructor you are invited to attend the same course again, at no charge to you, once in the first two years so that you may refresh and validate your knowledge, skills and attitude. Our support to you is unsurpassed.

There is no strict selection criteria for those wishing to train. It is our experience, that there are many people who make excellent teachers. It is important though; instructors have a reasonable level of Pilates experience and body awareness. We are prepared to accept those who have a sound level of experience in careers relating to Dancing, Physiotherapy, Osteopathy, Chiropractor, Myopathy or Fitness. Pilates trainers must hold a current First Aid Certificate and be Physically Fit. Sound Knowledge in Anatomy and Physiology, in particular of the core region and related stabilizing muscles and the Pilates method of delivery as taught by The Australian Pilates Academy and its instructors would be an advantage.
Your determination and The Australian Pilates Academy’s approach will assist you in your final outcome of teaching Pilates Excellence.
We do reserve the right to decline any application for training and may ask that you attend classes conducted by one of our instructors as this will allow us to assess your suitability for the course and as an instructor.
The Australian Pilates Academy has an active Recognition of Current Competency (RCC) and Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) program in place for those instructors that have either studied elsewhere or partially completed a Pilates course with another training institution. In accordance with APA's RCC and RPL program membership and acceptance may be considered once evidence of prior learning is produced.

Each course is conducted in two phases. The first phase is listed above. The second phase consists of one training day per month for 5 months. Instructors are qualified to instruct after phase 1 and will be accredited as an instructor after the phase two final exam.
